This was a welcome place to pull off the highway to eat, and worth the 4+mile offshoot. Great menu and awesome salads. We had the chicken mimi that was pounded thin and grilled to perfection. It was covered with veggies. We had the harvest salad with grilled chicken. We also ordered a scoop of chicken salad to have a little extra protein. The salad was really exceptional as was the dressing. It had so many wonderful things in the combination and worked well for a keto diet. The scoop of chicken salad was a pleasant surprise since it had a smidgen of dill in it. Really good chicken sakad. Thier tea was brewed fresh and tasted like they filtered the water. Nice extra touch! Try it, you'll like it

Another solid choice on 'restaurant row' in Mt Pleasant! Order at the counter when you enter, while reading from the big overhead menu. Fix your own drinks, then wait at a table until they bring your food. It won't take long, and the food is worth the wait anyway.
My wife loved her smothered steak, and I loved my Double-Bacon BLT Sandwich! Would've gone 5-stars if it had included a tiny bit more bacon! Great flavor, though! I chose Tater Tots for my side; while the steak came with Green Beans & Mashed Taters!
The coup de gras was the small dish of soft-serve ice cream after our repast! AWESOME!! -

What a nice place. Super friendly staff. The country fried chicken potato was the bomb. Completely covered in gravy. Oh my. The chicken was so good.

Pleasantly surprised. On our way home to the DFW area from Hughes Springs and decided to look for a new place to try. So, I yelped and found Herschel's. It was on the way home; so, we decided to give it a try. We didn't expect to love it as much as we did. The staff was super awesome, and the food was soooo good. The hubs and kiddo got burgers and said they were very good. The hubs also tried the onion rings and kept trying to get the kiddo and me to try them because they were so good. And I got the salad sampler with broccoli salad, chicken salad, and garden salad with ranch. My salad sampler was fresh and flavorful. Oh. And you get free ice cream!!! We will be back!!!

We were in town for a funeral and had never heard of this place but the family we were here for said we must go .
My husband said it was one of the best burgers he had ever had , his onion rings were yummmmmm
I had the chicken friend steak and I would not get it again . The batter was very good but I never found the steak lol it was very thing and it was white ? I tried to tell myself it was chicken the texture was not right . It was indeed a tiny piece of white colored meat .
Everything else was great and the customer service was out standing !
